Kogakuria Kopje is a wildly romantic spot in the far northwest of the Serengeti National Park. At first glance, it looks like a ruined castle, a tumbledown mass of giant boulders and ancient fig trees, with stunning views and nothing between you and the Kenyan border but rolling plains and herds of game.

A few years ago, I spent three days there on a mobile safari, and thought it was the most beautiful camp site I had ever seen. Now, Nomad Tanzania is in the process of completing a permanent camp in this dream location. Called Lamai Serengeti, it is set to open at the end of June, and is sure to become a must-see destination for serious safari enthusiasts.
Its 12 guest tents are split into Main Camp and the smaller Private camp, and both have natural swimming pools in the rocks.
