Richard Knocker
Richard Knocker has never not been 'on safari', at least it seems that way! Born and raised in Kenya, the only time he was off the continent was when he taught English at a school in Turkey. After returning to Africa he did a stint of camp management, running a camp in Kenya's Maasai Mara, with his wife Jules.
They were both part of the original Nomad Safari Guides, a group of seriously cool people who met on top of a hill in the Serengeti and decided to pool their their resources - two Landrovers and a trailer - to form one of Tanzania's pioneering safari companies.
Going on safari with Richard is always a real privilege, not least of which because of his sense of humour, sparkling wit and storytelling ability (he has also often been remarked on as "a better looking John Cleese"). He is 110% passionate about the bush and utterly committed to everything in it; he, like all our guides, are Nomad's greatest ambassadors and we wouldn't be without them.
