Day 1 - Chada Katavi
- Early morning flight from Arusha via the Serengeti (dependent on schedule) and Tabora, for refuelling, and arrive in Katavi around mid-day.

- Enjoy lunch and a siesta, then we'd suggest heading out for a late afternoon game drive to explore the area; stop for a sundowner on the way back returning to camp in time for dinner.

Day 2 - Katavi Fly Camp
- Early mornings in Katavi are hard to beat; get up early and head out of camp on foot. Walking across the plains look out for the big herds of buffalo or elephant that are often found there.

- or take a meander along the river line and see who's been hanging out there.

- Fly camping at Katavi is a must-do, so how about spending a night camping under the stars further out in the wilds. An afternoon game drive will take you out to the camp, already set up and waiting with ice cold drinks around the fire.

Day 3 - Chada Katavi
-
After a fully cooked breakfast and a short walk, head back to camp the slow way, stopping to look at game on the way.

- After lunch the choice is yours, maybe a short bird walk from camp, or a longer game drive, returning to camp for drinks around the fire and supper

Day 4 - Sand Rivers Selous
- Early drive to the airstrip to catch the flight over to the Selous (around 5 hours, with stop in Ruaha). Arrive in the Selous mid-afternoon and your guide will drive you to camp.

- Settle in then take a short sundowner boat trip up river.

- Before a candelit dinner in the main dining room, or around the pool

Day 5 - Sand Rivers Selous
- Head out in the cool of the early morning and take a walk along the sand river beds; have a cook-out breakfast en route.

- After lunch, and if you were bitten by the fly camping bug at Chada, drive or walk out to a new fly camp spot for sundowners, dinner and a night under the stars.

Day 6 - Sand Rivers Selous
- After your fly camp breakfast, head by vehicle to The Hide, to see what animals are out on the open plains.

- Before returning to the lodge for lunch and then an afternoon boat trip up river to Stieglers Gorge. Slow meander back along the river with a cool box and chilled wine or a cold beer.

Day 7 - Depart
Lazy start with breakfast around the pool and maybe a swim, before your departure to the airstrip and onward flight.

What to Expect
- In Katavi, expect to see huge concentrations of buffalo, hippo and crocodile as well as elephant, lion, leopard and a wide variety of plains game. Small authentic tented camp located in excellent game country, with the opportunity to also walk and spend a night fly camping.
- In the Selous, expect to see elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, crocs, zebra and an amazing diversity of bird life.
- This itinerary would need to start on a Monday, with our scheduled departures from Arusha to Katavi, giving you 3 nights in Chada Katavi followed by 3 nights in Sand Rivers Selous.
- We can easily arrange a trip to Zanzibar or the islands after your stay in the Selous. Zanzibar is less than an hour flight away!
- Or, if you'd prefer, we can help you organise a Serengeti migration safari before you fly to Katavi.
- We welcome children of 8 and over at Chada Katavi and Sand Rivers Selous, but regrettably cannot allow children under 12 to join our walks or fly camping.
