Day 1 - Kiba Point, Selous

  • Fly from Dar es Salaam to our Selous airstrip, about an hours flight in a light aircraft and settle in at Kiba Point.

  • Head out for an afternoon on the river, exploring the sand banks along the way.

Day 2 - Kiba Point, Selous

  • Start the day with an early morning walk,  straight from the lodge and head into the open savanna.

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge, taking a different route through the miombo forests by vehicle.

  • Like the idea of dinner out on a sandbank?

Day 3 - Selous Fly Camp

  • Fly camping is a must do while you're in the Selous.

  • Head off for an afternoon walk, that'll take you right to the fly camping spot. You'll find everything you need already there. Enjoy sundowners and a three-course dinner under the stars.

Day 4 - Kiba Point, Selous

  • Wake early and after a full breakfast you could head off on a game drive over to the miombo forest, or leave the fly camp on foot; quietly creep up on elephants, silently watching them going about their daily lives.

  • Walk, or drive to the Hot Springs for an afternoon cooling off.

  • Before heading back to Kiba for sundowners and dinner around the pool

Day 5 - Depart

  • Lazy start with breakfast around the pool and maybe a quick swim, followed by your departure to the airport and onward flight.

What to Expect

  • Elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo, croc, zebra and an amazing diversity of birdlife.
  • There are numerous daily flights to Kiba airstrip from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Pemba, Mafia, Ruaha and Northern Tanzania and we can easily arrange flights to any onward destination in Southern, Western and Northern Tanzania.
  • We'd particularly recommend combining a stay at Kiba Point with one of our Northern Tanzania camps, Lamai Serengeti, Serengeti Safari Camp or Nduara Loliondo.
  • Kiba Point is closed for maintenance from 26 March to 31 May 2012.
  • We welcome children of 8 and over at Kiba Point, but regrettably cannot allow children under 12 to join our walks or fly-camping activities.
