Day 1 - Serengeti Safari Camp

  • Fly from Arusha to the central Serengeti. Met by your private Nomad car and guide and head on a game drive towards Serengeti Safari camp in the Westerm Corridor.

  • Settle into camp for a siesta after lunch and head out for a game drive in the late afternoon returning to camp for drinks around the fire and dinner.

Day 2 - Serengeti Safari Camp

  • Discuss the day's activities with your guide; he'll know the whereabouts of the migration but what you do and when is entirely up to you.

  • The migration should be in this area of the central-western Serengeti and our Serengeti Safari Camp will be well placed to capture the action.

Day 3 - Lamai Serengeti

  • Get an early start and drive north to Lamai Serengeti, stopping for a picnic lunch on the way.

  • Settle into camp & spend the afternoon exploring this fabulous area..

Day 4 - Lamai Serengeti

  • At this time of year there's a decent chance of catching a river crossing as the wildebeest move back & forth in both directions, depending on rain and grazing conditions, but it requires a lot of patience and even more luck.

  • Chance to enjoy great short walking safaris between the camp and the Mara river with a Nomad armed guide. Perhaps ending with sundowners on the highest spot in the area, directly behind camp, with the most magnificent views in the whole area.

Day 5 - Lamai Serengeti

  • Game drives, walks, lazy days on your private verandah or by the swimming pool, the choice is yours. We'd certainly recommend a safari north of the river into the Lamai wedge itself, a small triangle of ground between the Kenya border and the Mara river, rich in plains game and predators and a good contrast to the kopjes and network of water courses south of the river.

Day 6 - Depart

  • Plenty of time for a final game drive before heading to Kogatende airstrip for your scheduled flight. Our own flights to Western Tanzania operate on Mondays & Thursdays, arriving in Katavi or Mahale for a late lunch. Or there are plenty of flights to Arusha and beyond, either south to Zanzibar and Selous or north to Nairobi.

What to expect

  • Wildebeest migration in either the western Corridor or up around the Mara river - or quite possibly both given the time of year.  Huge feasting crocs on the Grumeti & Mara rivers, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, buffalo, hippo & great elephant in the mara area in particular.
  • Combine the small authentic tented camp feel of Serengeti Safari Camp alongside the small lodge comfort of Lamai Serengeti with its swimming pool and private verandahs with stunning views north over the Mara river valley and Lamai wedge beyond..
  • Game drives, walking safaris, dinner under the stars, amazing variety of landscape and birdlife and great concentrations of game.
  • This can easily be combined with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater and/or Tarangire with onward flights to western Tanzania for stays at Chada Katavi or Greystoke Mahale or to Selous or Ruaha in southern Tanzania.
