Tanzanian Children's Fund
The Tanzanian Children's Fund (TFC) is a home to 97 vulnerable and marginalised children in The Rift Valley. These children are either orphaned, or come from families who are unable to support them. TCF offers them a safe place to call home, where they can go to school, as well as learn vocational skills which will hopefully stand them in good stead for the future. Rather than simply providing a home for the children, TCF also works to address the underlying issues in the community and runs social welfare and health programs, as well as projects that fund micro-finance women's groups. Their overarching aim is to equip the community to take better care of their families and children, and create industry and employment opportunities where there are currently very few.
We have been supporters of this centre for many years, and focus our attention and support on the educational, medical and nutritional needs of the children. We also sponsor a very deserving young student for her A level studies. Neema is from the Rift Valley Children’s Home, and is one of few girls in the area to have made it all the way to A-levels at secondary school. We're excited to watch her future unfold and to be a part of her journey.
We have also been a part of setting up a conservation focused internship between TCF and our partner project in Katavi, LCMO. A young man from TCF called Ladislaus spent a few months down in Katavi after graduating from ranger college, where he put his studies to work and got his hands dirty learning how conservation organisations are working hard around the country to keep our wild places wild.
If you're heading to Kuro Tarangire or Entamanu Ngorongoro and would like to know more about how you can support TCF please get in touch.
