January

Price From: $5,459pp*

The Ngorongoro Highlands often experiences a bit of a dry spell in January and February, which signifies the interlude between the short rains and the long rains. The days are clear and bright, with the odd bit of cloud ascending up the Crater walls and over camp. Entamanu is on a site which can get windy and cold - this is the wild side of the Crater and so it is important to pack warm throughout the year. As is well known with the Crater, game viewing is generally fantastic year-round.

The advent of the short rains means that the Southern Plains are green by now, so huge herds of migrant wildebeest, zebra and gazelles can usually be found. Game viewing is usually excellent in the Ndutu area, with good cheetah sightings.

Predators are targeting the young gazelles being born. In some other parts of the park, the availability of plenty of fresh green grass and water means that the game is well dispersed.

February

Price From: $5,459pp*

Rain is sporadic, so the herds congregate in areas with lush grass. This is when the wildebeest calving season starts, a real bonanza for predators.

In the woodland, giraffe, elephant and buffalo are generally easy to locate. In drier years, the great herds pull back into the woodland to the west in search of grass and water. In some instances, a pack of wild dog might roam the far south.

March

Price From: $5,459pp*

The wildebeest calving season is in full swing now, providing good chances of witnessing a birth. It is often quite dry at this time and the herds might split into smaller units, scattering around the southern plains in search of the best conditions. In late March, the long rains start; this is when the migration is at its most impressive, with vast numbers spread across the plain.

DAY 1 - 4

Entamanu Ngorongoro

At Entamanu Ngorongoro we define our version of this iconic wilderness. It is the only place you can enjoy views into both the Crater and the Serengeti. Our camp is on the wild side of the rim, offering an unspoilt, unparalleled Crater wildlife experience, as well as an authentic insight into the land and culture that surrounds it. Because we occupy such an elemental site, we have designed our camp with utmost sensitivity to the environment and the elements, and Entamanu combines a light footprint with comfort and style.

Perched on the wild side of the Ngorongoro Crater this is an elemental place, where we experience the Crater as it would have been many years ago. Large canvas rooms raised on wooden platforms are your home at Entamanu Ngorongoro.

Serengeti Safari Camp

Our Serengeti Safari Camp was the first of its kind. It was designed with one purpose in mind: to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration as it covers hundreds of miles of the Serengeti National Park each year. Moving every couple of months along a route that the herds have travelled for hundreds of years, Serengeti Safari Camp is where you come for your migration fix. We understand well the Serengeti seasons and game movements, and how best to mirror them in this little nomadic camp.

Beautiful, stylishly simple and supremely comfortable. Our light of foot mobile Serengeti Safari Camp.
