Green Season
If it's chimps you're after, and don't mind a bit of rain, then come and stay with us in the green season
Mahale, during our Green Season (November through March), is a spectacular place to be. The haze, often prevalent during the Dry Season months, is gone, leaving the air crystal clear - views across the lake are stunning and it's a photographers dream.
The forest is at its resplendent best, butterflies and birds are everywhere and the many waterfalls are full of life.
Mornings in the forest are cool and fresh and you're generally less likely to see any other visitors. The park is much quieter at this time of year and, because of this, chimp trekking feels even more intimate and unhurried.
This is a time of sporadic rain, with dramatic storms passing through but rarely around for long. This can create a drama and intensity that is spectacular to witness, with huge clouds build-ups on the horizon. After the rains, there is a wonderful freshness and the forest comes alive; keen birders and naturalists will be in their element!
