Life changing experiences
at Entamanu

Ngorongoro is always an outstanding day out; way up on the rim, we take the experience to a whole other level.

Entamanu to the Serengeti Safari Camp, on foot

Entamanu is the only place in the world where you can see the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti plains from the same spot. And in our determination to mould your Crater experience a little differently, we highly recommend you take the unique opportunity to walk from Entamanu to Serengeti Safari Camp.

Crater View Lunch on top of the world

The ultimate private picnic spot overlooking the vast Ngorongoro Crater. Give us the nod ahead of time and we’ll have this ready for your return from your morning game drive. Then after your long and lazy lunch, how about a gentle stroll back into camp for a well-earned rest.

Maasai interactions

Sometimes we drop round to see our Maasai neighbours, who are living a largely traditional life in the boma in the next valley, and still grazing their cattle in the conservation area. It will be just us and them, and a warm welcome, with insights into the pastoral life, from building huts to warrior ceremonies.

Highland walks

These are the unforgettable experiences of Africa which very few get, to have it properly beneath your feet. You’ll be out of the cars with your guide, in the sparkling highland air. Along too, a Maasai scout - showing you his version of the natural world - and an armed ranger to keep you safe.

Crater game drives

Naturally, we’ve found in the right spot for a more private experience of this wildlife mecca. Being right on the rim, we have access to the Crater soon after dawn, often first in line avoiding the dreaded mini-buses, to take you to see the outstanding volumes of wildlife: from some of Africa’s last rhinoceros to flamingoes to lovebirds.

Northern Tanzania safaris

Our Northern Tanzania camps are in enviable locations that mean we can take you deeper into this epic wilderness and create life changing experiences.

Magical Place Recommendation

We drank wine and played cards on the patio while watching zebras and a giraffe 20m away with a view of the creator in the background. Unbelievable! The team of staff here made it possible. Highly recommend this magical place.

FAQs

What to wear on Safari in Tanzania?

Pack lightweight is the first tip. Next neutral colours are great - khaki, beige and olives - however not every item needs to be khaki by any means. There is no harm in a splash of colour in the bush. Long sleeves and trousers are a necessary addition to protect you from the sun and insect or mosquitoes in the evening. You are on the move a lot so always have a pair of comfy, sturdy shoes whether that be walking boots, trainers or safari style boots. This is especially important if you are embarking on a walking safari. Bring a light, warm jacket for those early mornings and sometimes even a beanie may be required depending on the time of year. Finally, do bring a good hat - wide brimmed or just a baseball cap - needed to protect you from the African sun.

What vaccinations or health precautions do I need?

Yellow Fever vaccinations are required if you are arriving from endemic countries. Other recommended vaccinations include tetanus, diptheria, polio, hepatitis A and typhoid. You will also need to consider hepatitis B and malaria prevention medicines. In all cases, you must seek advice from your medical professional.

Do lodges offer honeymoon packages or upgrades?

Many do, yes - private dinners, spa treatments or surprise sundowners that add thoughtful moments to the trip. Occasionally, there are discounts for one spouse and it can be worth researching.

What are sundowners?

Sundowners are a wonderful part of safari life. At the end of your day in the bush, its time to kick back and celebrate the sightings, the adventures and time with your loved ones. All with something cold in hand!

What I wish I knew before going on safari

Always take a good pair of binoculars. And slow down. Take time to enjoy and area or the safari camps. There is sometimes nothing more special than spending the afternoon or early morning on your veranda and letting the wildlife come to you.

When is the green season?

From late November to May. It's a gorgeous time to be in Tanzania - expect dramatic skies, lush landscapes and superb wildlife. Also, less people.

How far in advance should I book my safari?

For peak seasons, between 9 and 12 months ahead is wise. This can vary depending on the places and camp you'd like to visit with some filling up earlier. The best camps and guides are worth planning for.

Is English spoken in Tanzania?

Yes, English in widely spoken in Tanzania, especially in camps and by safari guides. Swahili is the main language and knowing a few words and phrases will always earn you a smile.
