Joseph
Chada, Katavi, Western Tanzania

Joseph Welwel started his career as a waiter and worked his way through the ranks to camp manager. The adventure began when he had his first safari experience with us, and from there he became infatuated, falling in love with the bush.
While working as a waiter, Joseph was studying hard for his Nomad guide training, telling us it was our authentic guiding style he enjoyed the most. He got a place at Mount Meru Tour Guiding College where we contributed half of his fees so he could get his full qualifications.
We always enjoy giving our camp colleagues a range of experiences, so after returning from college, Joseph worked as a transfer driver and as a front of house manager at Serengeti Safari Camp. Finally, and after much hard work and dedication, he began his guiding career in Ruaha, followed by Katavi and the Serengeti.
After all his time in the bush, we knew we had to offer Joseph his dream position of camp manager. He enjoyed managing Serengeti Safari Camp and Kuro, but he has now moved to his favourite location and camp in all of Tanzania, Chada.
