There’s something about being out here that brings people closer. We find it in the shared adventures, the sense of exploration and never really knowing what you’ll find out in the bush. In these amazing places life just seems bigger and more brilliant. But it’s also in the quiet and the smaller moments of safari life, together: morning light streaming through tent windows when you wake, the smell of rain, a chilled sundowner under a million bright stars. These things you remember, that soak into memory.

Why choose a Honeymoon Safari with Nomad?

For over 30 years, Nomad has called the wilderness of Tanzania home and bedded in at the edges. We know what we love and what drives us, and we’d like to think that your honeymoon safari should be more than just a beautiful view. That all the parts of it - the little experiences - should sum up one big, extraordinary adventure.

Our Favourite Honeymoon Safari Destinations

Greystoke, Mahale

Greystoke is where the forested Mahale mountains meet the shores of Lake Tanganyika, remote, beautiful, and always romantic. Track wild chimpanzees in the forest by morning, swim in crystal-clear waters by afternoon, and dine barefoot on the beach under a huge sky. For honeymoons it is wild, intimate, and unlike anywhere else on earth.

Entamanu, Ngorongoro

Entamanu sits on the rim of the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, in a location where you can look out and feel that you’re the only one witnessing the enormous view. Head out on game drives, or on walks in the surrounds where you’ll feel like a tiny part of a huge landscape. We can recommend evenings tucked up around the fireplace in our cosy mess, quiet conversation, a glass of wine with a book.

Lamai, Serengeti

Lamai sits high on a rocky kopje, with wide views that stretch for miles. Light, open rooms tuck into the boulders. From here, game drives take you down to the Mara river, the crossing point for the wildebeest migration in season, and into the surrounding plains where you’ll always find resident game all year. Walks, bush picnics and sundowners add up to an adventurous honeymoon should you choose, with a retreat to base at the end of the day for long and easy suppers out on the open deck.

Sand Rivers, Nyerere

Sand Rivers sits on the banks of the Rufiji, with wide-screen views out over the river. For decades it’s been part of this landscape, open-fronted rooms filled with light and river breezes all facing the water. Animals gather here, hippos and crocs on the banks, elephants at the edges and it’s a great spot from which to venture out on boat trips, game drives, a night out fly-camping under the stars. The lodge has a romantic heart, with cosy places to while away an early evening with a sundowner in hand.

Our stay with Nomad Lamai was absolutely incredible. The experience, the service, and the flexibility were all bar none- and learning as we went how much they invest in and utilize local communities continually reinforced our decision.
