The Northern Seasons
Price From: $6,000pps
In June, and from November through to March this safari is fantastic for beautiful scenery with crisp clear skies, impressive birdlife, lots of babies and a time of plenty for both predator and prey. And, did we mention it really is excellent value? July to October is the dry season when Tanzania recieves almost no rain through our winter months, and it's a great time for big game throughout Northern Tanzania. These months see the height of the migration action as the wildebeest thunder over the Mara River in search of fresh grazing up in the nothern Serengeti. The costs shown here are based on a shared game package safari. If you would prefer to have your own private guide and vehicle there is an extra supplement.
Serengeti Safari Camp shadows the migration. Read more about the migration to see what you can expect month by month in the Serengeti.
January
Price From: $8,800pps
The whole region of Northern Tanzania is usually green and full of life at this time of year. There are lots of babies in Tarangire and it is a fanatstic time to see big herds of elephants. Rains in the southern Serengeti have drawn the wildebeest south in search of fresh grazing on the nutrient rich short grass plains. This is where the wildebeest would love to call home, and where a million wildebeest start their life every year.

As the rains subside the entire region starts dry out, and wildlife begins to migrate and congregate around reliable water holes. The wildebeest herds in the Serengeti continue westwards, towards the Grumeti River in the Western Corridor. The riverine forest here harbors plentiful buffalo and elephant, while there are many hippo and huge crocs in the river; these latter are hungry after a long fast, leading to explosive action when the herds come down to drink.
July
Price From: $8,800pps
Game viewing intensifies throughout the region with water sources becoming more scarce and animals congregating around rivers and waterholes. All those hungry wildebeest in the Serengeti rapidly deplete the grass and water in the Western Corridor and pretty soon they start to move north. This is a great time for walking in Tarangire and game viewing on the Crater floor is phenomenal.
August
Price From: $8,800pps
The dry season is well under way. Game viewing intensifies throughout the region with water sources becoming more scarce and animals congregating around rivers and waterholes. November
Price From: $6,500pps
The first afternoon thunder showers start to build over the plains and relieve the wild residents from the dry spell. It is a magnificent sight to watch a lightening show play out above the grasslands and watch the bush transfrom almost overnight following the first rains. It is time for the wildebeest to start heading south in preparation for the arrival of the next generation. Migrant birds begin to arrive ahead of their breeding season and babies start to make an appearance.

Day by day

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your Nomad guide will take you on a journey through Maasai country and into Tarangire National Park.

Days 1 - 3
Kuro Tarangire
Kuro Tarangire is set amid a grove of trees on the banks of the Tarangire River. It is a place where we find harmony with nature's rhythms. We wake in the cool of the morning and walk straight out of camp to discover evidence of the night's activities along the course of the Tarangire River, it's the sort of rare freedom that we seldom enjoy in our busy lives. Later in the day we climb into 4WD cars and head out with the anticipation of discovery. This park is second only to the Serengeti in its concentration of wildlife and is well known for big herds of buffalo, elephant and prides of lazy lion sprawled in the shade of acacia scrub, and there are over 550 species of birds here. Read more about Kuro Tarangire.

Drive from Tarangire to the Ngorongoro Crater
A safari through Lake Manyara National Park before your guide takes you up into the Ngorongoro Highlands and to our Crater rim camp.

At Entamanu Ngorongoro we define our version of this iconic wilderness. Our site allows us to drive down into the Crater soon after dawn and well before the crowds. Our guides, because they know wilderness is a pleasure best taken alone, are incredibly clever at avoiding people while showing you breathtaking wildlife. We love to walk, and walking along the Crater rim with our highly trained Nomad guides, an armed scout and a local Maasai it is a chance to learn about the smaller things, and the ancient Maasai culture. A visit to the nearby Maasai boma, to which we have exclusive access is an experience not to be missed. Read more about Entamanu Ngorongoro.

Drive from the Crater to the Serengeti

Days 5 - 8
Serengeti Safari Camp
Serengeti Safari Camp was the first of it’s kind. It was designed with a purpose in mind; to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration as it covers hundreds of miles of the Serengeti each year. So it should come as no surprise that it really hasn't changed much since it's early pioneering days. This camp is all about our fabulous guides getting you right into the action. Be it the drama of a river crossing, the awesome breathtaking moment of seeing the herds stretch for impossible miles, or a huddle of cheetah cubs in the long grass we are in the thick of it.
