Award-winning safari lodges that combine understated style with light-touch brilliance.

Over the years, we've cut winding paths into the remotest quarters of Tanzania's parks and reserves. Here, the landscape and environment inspires design, with each camp born from hand-painted watercolours, a thoughtful process reflecting our approach to safari itself.

To us, small is beautiful – each lodge built to be home for a handful of guests. The value of this is hard to overstate, lodges that sit quietly in their natural surroundings and feel more like a bush home than a hotel. You'll come to know each camp crew member and leave with a deeper understanding of Tanzania's wild places.

DESIGN & BUILD

Where nature leads design

Within each location we exist as quiet observers to the wild, these are comfortable places that allow guests to get beneath the skin of an area—and that's just how we like it. Within our lodges, you'll discover well-worn leather chairs, locally crafted furnishings, and natural materials that age gracefully with the passing seasons.

This is luxury that whispers rather than shouts—authentic, purposeful, and perfectly attuned to its surroundings.

LODGE INTERIORS

Made in Tanzania, crafted by Tanzanians

We’ve always made a point of furnishing our safari lodges with the products of local suppliers and artisans bringing a unique look but consistent style throughout our camps. From hand-woven bedspreads to lamp shades made from rat traps, we’re always on the lookout for local treasures.

Leave nothing but footprints

To have lodges in these wilderness locations is a remarkable privilege, but with it comes a responsibility we take seriously.

Nowhere is our philosophy of treading lightly more important. So when we built Entamanu we set ourselves simple ground rules to ensure that when the day comes to pack up camp, there is nothing left behind and nothing to stop the bush reclaiming our site entirely.

BEDS & BATHS

Fresh air and the sounds of Africa

We’ve stripped away the unnecessary—no televisions, no distractions. Just spoiling handcrafted furniture, locally woven textiles, and a bed perfectly placed to frame the wild beyond. With open fronted bedrooms can watch elephants tracing their migratory paths or enjoy a stunning sunrise with fresh coffee in hand.

Then after a day on the plains you can wash away the safari dust with a proper shower using our luxurious local body wash. Each en-suite bathroom is open to wild - we like to give you every opportunity to lookout, and who wouldn't want to watch the passing wildlife while brushing their teeth?

FOOD & DRINK

Honest flavours. Regional ingredients. Local chefs.

Sourcing produce in our remote location is not always easy. But to find the best produce for our safari lodges, we always start local thereby reducing food miles and offering opportunity to local communities and farmers.

The most stunning setting to appreciate the raw wildness of the Serengeti, this camp offers luxurious comfort with the feeling of camping out in the animals territory.

"Exceeded Our Expectations"

Sitting quietly on the banks of the river in Tanzania, Sand River Selous exceeded our expectations from the minute we got off the plane. The staff and our guide wanted to make sure we felt at home and to let them know if there was anything we needed to just ask. However, the camp handles everything...

Magical Experience Here

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Greystoke Mahale. Just trekking with chimpanzees, to swimming in Lake Tanganyika, to catching fish and eating sashimi, I had a really magical experience here.

FAQs

How do you get to your safari lodge?

The transport networks in Tanzania are very good with internal flight schedules across the country. It is possible to fly into the parks and land at one of the bush airstrips. From there, most lodges will arrange for a transfer journey from airstrip to the lodge. Depending on the lodge location, this can vary in journey time. Or, if you opt for a driving safari in northern Tanzania, your guide (included as standard with Nomad) will transport you from location to location.
